She came from a big family of three brothers and five sisters. Even though life was hard back then, she still had a happy childhood. Her father had a large farm and he kept the family together despite the hardships.

Rebecca lived in Canada for 22 years and worked as a Public Administrator for the Canadian Alaskan Highway. Later, she went to business college to study Accounting and upon graduation, got a job working at a bank. She met her husband, Lyman Young, at a military dance when she was 21 years old. He asked her to dance and they both fell in love. He proposed to her and got married in 1944 in Vancouver, Canada. Together they have four children, two boys and two girls.

Rebecca’s life philosophy is to “keep happy.” She used to travel around the world even after her husband passed. Life keeps going for her. Her favorite activity at Carlton Senior Living Sacramento is Darn Yarn although she participates in many others. She likes to knit and make things for the homeless. She best described herself as never idle and friendly.
