Empowered Living – By Ruby MacDonald

ruby-macdonaldThis past month Carlton Senior Living lost the matriarch of our family, Ruby MacDonald, the spouse and partner of our Founder Tom MacDonald. Ruby was a beautiful woman who filled all of our lives with so much love and joy. If you ever met Ruby at an Annual Family BBQ or other Community event or read her monthly article in the Newsletter, , one thing would be apparent: Ruby cared deeply for each and every resident that became part of our family. Her words of wisdom and kindness uplifted our souls on a monthly basis, each and every article being a true reflection of her genuine spirit.

In Ruby’s own words from her article, Joyous Spirits in September 2009:

“The minute we meet someone, they leave part of themselves with us and we in turn, leave part of ourselves with them. Our spirits will be carried into the future.”

We know these words are true as our Carlton Senior Living family has been left with what feels like so much more than just a piece of Ruby. We will hold onto the messages, the love, the courage, the optimism, the strength and the beauty that she left with us deeply into our near and far futures. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be greatly missed by all.

We would like to leave you with a piece of Ruby, in her own words:

“We are more powerful than we realize—I urge us all to become more empowered by living with positive outlooks and as we move closer to that mysterious door we call death, let’s all remember to turn that door knob with a spirit of adventure. There is probably a big party going on over there – and I raise my glass in a toast.”
