Healthy eating is important no matter what age you are but choosing healthy snacks with high nutritional value and which also sustain your appetite can be challenging. Lifelong Learner, Mary, Took Up Quilting at Age 80

At the age of 80, Carlton Senior Living Downtown Pleasant Hill resident, Mary, decided it was time for her to stop doing alterations for family and friends but she wasn’t ready to stop sewing. In 2002, quilt shops and quilting classes were very popular so Mary talked her daughter into taking a class with her to see if this was something she wanted to pursue. After this first class, which met once a week for six weeks, Mary and her daughter were hooked. Meet Carlton Senior Living’s spotlight resident, Richard Schwab – Richard was born to parents Phillip Edgar Schwab and mother Ruth Narum on September 12, 1927, in Little Falls, Minnesota, the same town where the historic aviator Charles Lindbergh was raised. Richard’s father worked hatching chickens, and his mother was a schoolteacher and office worker. Richard had three brothers, and describes his brother Phillip as his closest friend and comrade.
