Julia Johnson of Carlton Elk Grove Honored with Outstanding Department Director Award at CALA

This award recognized Julia’s exceptional service and commitment to enriching the lives of residents over her tenure.

Johnson exemplifies the creativity, compassion and leadership that strengthen quality Assisted Living and Memory Care communities. She has spent more than six years at Carlton Senior Living Elk Grove, where she oversees activities for both Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. Since taking on the role, residents and families have praised the increased engagement and variety of activities offered throughout the community.

Johnson is known for creating meaningful experiences centered on what residents enjoy. When a resident could no longer leave her room but missed the dining room experience, Johnson partnered with the chef to recreate a restaurant-style breakfast at her bedside, complete with flowers and décor. She also organized a riverboat cruise for Memory Care residents and their families, creating meaningful opportunities for connection and shared experiences. For one resident’s 90th birthday, Johnson worked closely with the family to coordinate a special celebration that made the resident feel honored and celebrated.

Families consistently describe Johnson as compassionate, reliable and deeply committed to resident happiness and well-being.
