Brie Filled Beggar’s Purse Appetizer Ingredients Needed: Phyllo Dough Brie Cheese Dried Cranberries Rosemary Pecans Cupcake Pan Non Stick Spray Cooking Instructions: Pre Heat Oven to 400 degrees Cut Brie into Small Bite Sized Pieces Hydrate Cranberries Once Soaked Until Plump, place rosemary and drained cranberries in small pot. Meet Carlton Senior Living’s spotlight resident, Elaine Anderson – Elaine was born February 6, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to parents Carl and Marion. She has one older sister, Diane, who also lives in Davis. Her father was secretary and a founding member of Memorex, maker of computer tapes, disk drives, and other computer components. Her mother was a housewife. She also painted watercolors, oil, and acrylics, displaying her art in many fairs and often winning blue ribbons. Meet Carlton Senior Living spotlight resident, Greta Heinemeier – Greta was born February 19, 1935 in Anna, Illinois, a small town about 120 miles southeast of St. Louis, Missouri near the Mississippi River. Her father was a Lutheran minister and held his first congregation in Anna. Greta had one brother, four years older than her, who she describes as “incredibly smart and a Navy man.” Greta models her mother’s purse. Her mom was a flapper! The family eventually moved to Evansville, Indiana, where her father continued his services to the Lutheran church. Being brought up in a farming family required a lot of hard labor and grit, and Joanne remembers her and her sister, ages 9 and 5 respectively, had to cook dinner for nine people each night. His parents and whole family lived there, and as he puts it, “Everyone in my family lived within 35 miles of there, and we only had bicycles and no cars, so if you wanted to meet and marry someone, you would have to ride your bike to the nearest town.” Hank had an uncle living in Bolinas, in Marin County, who asked if Hank or his brother wanted to move out to California. Meet Carlton Senior Living spotlight residents, Arnie and Rita Stone. Arnie Stone was born March 18, 1928 in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York, to parents Ruth and Manny. Rita was born December 16, 1929 in The Bronx, New York, to mother, Ann, and father, Benjamin. Arnie had a brother, Stanley, who was a salesman. Rita also had a brother, David, who worked as a purchasing agent. In 1945, after high school, Arnie joined the U.S. Navy and remained enlisted through 1949. Meet Carlton Senior Living’s spotlight resident, Barbara Dunn – Born on August 7, 1922 in Orosi, California, to parents Edith and Raymond Toler, Barbara Dunn is the youngest of three children. A native of California, Barb has lived throughout the state and in Surprise, Arizona. In Arizona, on an RV lot, Barb discovered in her 70s that she loves line dancing and became a line dancing teacher. For six years she taught roughly 10-50 people on any given night. Raised a Baptist, she feels that she didn’t know how to dance, but somehow managed to learn and teach. Upon returning to California, she lived in Citrus Heights and for the past four years …
