Meet Carlton Senior Living spotlight resident, Joyce Spingarn! Joyce was born in Rochester, New York to Dorothy and Earl on December 5, 1929. She had three siblings, a sister Marilyn and two brothers Howard and Richard. After high school, she went to nursing school to become a Registered Nurse. In 1947, she met her husband Claude at a party. She said, “Our eyes met and fell in love instantly.” They both have three beautiful children, Ron, Valli, and Sherri. Meet Carlton Senior Living spotlight resident, Michael Samberg – Michael was born on July 11, 1921, in the lower east of New York City. In 1920, during World War I, his parents came to the United States from Poland with his sister Anne, grandma and cousin. His dad acquired his own restaurant with a partner, but it was a tough life for them. Veteran, Michael poses in front of his various degrees. Later, his family moved to the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. His father bought a row house with a substantial mortgage. Meet Carlton Senior Living’s spotlight resident, Dr. Carl Haller – Carl was born December 9, 1928, to Edward and Rae. Carl was a child of the Great Depression and is a member of the “Greatest Generation.” From the age of 16 until retirement at the age of 84, Carl never missed a day of work, never took a sick day and never cut a class. During the depression, his family moved from coast to coast seeking work and suffering the deprivation of that terrible period. They eventually settled in the West Bronx in New York City. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1947. In 1949, instead of being drafted in the Army, Carl enlisted into the U …

Meet Carlton Senior Living spotlight resident, Jim MacDonald – Jim was born in Richmond, California on December 1, 1951, to Donald and Joann and is the oldest of five boys. Jim had a great childhood and enjoyed every family activity they had. Since they didn’t have much when he was younger the only thing that was cheap and fun for the family to do was camping. So, camping was one of his favorite activities besides skiing and music. Jim graduated from Contra Costa College with a degree in music. Walking Together to End Alzheimer's

This year Carlton Senior Living communities collectively participated in three different walks hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association. Recruiting a total of nearly 140 participants we took a walk in Sacramento on September 29th, Silicon Valley on October 13th and Walnut Creek on October 20th.
