Carlton Senior Living Event Raises $1,500 For Special Needs Athletes Carlton Senior Living Sacramento hosted a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on July 5, 2016 that brought in $1,500 to benefit special needs athletes. More than 200 people attended, including guests and residents of the Carlton Senior Living community. The money raised at the event was donated to Pathways to Recreation, a nonprofit that provides advocacy, education and funding for people with disabilities in Sacramento County. A Matter of Balance is an evidence based fall prevention program that was piloted at Carlton Senior Living San Leandro. This 8-week structured class emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Residents learned to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
