Resident Spotlight – Judith Smith

Meet Judith Smith, Carlton Senior Living’s spotlight resident – Judith was born in the Great Plains state of North Dakota where she lived briefly before her family moved west to California in 1943. In 1968, Judith moved to Sacramento, California where she began her 32 year career in government. One person who truly inspired Judith to become who she is today is her uncle. Judith says that he taught her everything she knows and gave her the tools needed to succeed in her career as a California State Senator’s Assistant Legislator.

Judith is well traveled and has visited many interesting places throughout the world, including Germany, Paris and Italy. Of them all, she names Paris as her favorite city, although she prefers the classic cuisines of Mexico and China. People might be surprised to learn that Judith has a daring side and has been parasailing in Mexico. Based on her adventurous past as a world-traveler, it’s no shock to learn that her one of her favorite movies is the 1963 James Bond action-thriller, “From Russia with Love.”

Three words that describe Judith are strong, hard-working and active. Some of her life philosophies are to be a positive influence on people and to always strive to learn new things. Since she has no children of her own, Judith enjoys the bond she shares with her sister’s three children and hopes that she will be remembered for the kindness she has instilled in the people in her life, for being a positive influence and for her strong willed nature.

Her favorite activity “Carlton” activity is Bingo. When asked how she would rate Carlton Senior Living Sacramento – Enhanced on a scale of 1 to 10, Judith graciously gave the community a 10 based on the excellent quality of care they have provided to her.
